| Mercy
welcomes all resident applications in good standing exclusively using the Electronic Residency
Application Service (ERAS). You may request an ERAS Application kit through
your US medical school (or, if you are a foreign graduate, through ECFMG
ERAS Program – phone (215) 386-5900).
When your application file is
complete with all supporting documents/references, a committee will review
the contents to determine whether to offer an interview (30% of
all applicants are offered interviews). Deadline for submitting applications is the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Examples of documents and references:
- ERAS Common Application Form
- Personal Statement
- Transcripts from Medical School
- Dean's Letter
- Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
- USMLE Scores
- Photograph
- EGFMG Number (if applicable)
|
Following are criteria for interviewing graduates of non-LCME approved medical schools:
- Must be ECFMG Certified. It is sufficient to only have passed CSA or USMLE Steps 1 and2.
- Must have passed USMLE Steps 1 and 2 with a minimum score of 80% on each examination. It is preferable to have passed each examination on the first time. We do not consider applicants who have failed the examination more than one time. Step 2 must be passed before beginning internship.
- Must have graduated from medical school less than five years from the time of application. If more than two years have passed since graduation, you must have completed the 100 hours of Continuing Medical Education Units required to qualify for licensure in the State of Illinois.
- We accept J1 VISA only.
