Genesis Course
Incoming residents refresh their knowledge base and ease the transition
from medical student to physician in the "Genesis" course offered
annually. This multi-day Mercy course takes place during the last week
of June.
Daily Morning
Report
Resident to resident education, tempered with attending faculty support,
is fostered in Daily Morning Report sessions. These provide an open forum
to discuss current inpatient cases, clinical dilemmas, and exceptional
cases.
Thursday
Afternoon Lectures
Thursday afternoons are reserved for formal instruction and lectures.
A variety of OB/GYN topics are covered including CREOG and ACOG objectives.
Grand Rounds
Monthly Grand Rounds featuring guest speakers discussing pertinent issue
in OB/GYN alternate with third year resident presentations of significant
clinical topics.
Monthly
Journal Club
Monthly journal clubs meet at a selection of Chicago's popular restaurants
and are well attended by faculty and residents alike. These informal exchanges
typify the congenial atmosphere of this OB/GYN residency program.
Residency
Fair
Occasionally Mercy participates in the local Residency Fairs.
Research Project Each year, our residents have the opportunity to present their research efforts before a visiting professor and an audience of peers and faculty. However, this particular year Dr. Emily Chang's paper was selected for ACOG.
