Former Mercy residents can be found across the country and they have followed many different career paths. Whichever path they elect to pursue, they are having tremendous impact throughout the nation.
A 2012 graduate of Mercy Hospital and Medical Center residency program, Dr. John Paul Estrada is now an OB/Gyn at Friend Family Health Center and is on staff as a Teaching Generalist Attending at both Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, and the University of Chicago Medical Center. Dr. Estrada is a true Chicagoan. In his free time, Dr. Estrada enjoys spending time with friends and family in this amazing city.
Dr. Taylor is a 2013 graduate of the Mercy Hospital Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program. Since graduation, Dr. Taylor has been employed as a Generalist by the Access Community Health Network in Blue Island. She also serves as an OB-GYN Hospitalist at Metro South Medical Center in Blue Island. She is an active member of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Taylor serves as a Young Physician Member on the CREOG (Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology) Education Committee. In addition, she is engaged in political advocacy via the annual Congressional Leadership Conference, which lobbies issues impacting women’s health. Following his residency at Mercy, Dr. Matsumoto completed a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at UCSD. He is board certified in both OB/GYN and MFM. Now in Atlanta, Dr. Matsumoto is the Chair of the OB/GYN Department at Northside Hospital, which does approximately 17,000 deliveries a year. He also initiated the Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Conference and is the team leader at the Fetal Treatment Center which he launched. When he’s not working, Dr. Matsumoto enjoys karate and kickboxing as well as writing; he has finished one book and is working on a second in the medical suspense genre. Dr. Watson completed her residency with Mercy in 2004 and is now practicing office gynecology with Boylan Healthcare in Raleigh, NC, where she focuses on menopausal women, adolescents and young adults. Dr. Watson is a North American Menopause Society Certified Practitioner and is considering doing an AIHM (Academy of Integrative Health & Medicine) Fellowship. She is married with 2 boys, ages 7 and 9, and she and her husband are Cub Scout leaders. In her free time, Dr. Watson likes to practice yoga and garden with the kids. Photo credit: Boylan Healthcare
Dr. Oh attended Northwestern University Medical School and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago. Currently with Gynecological & Obstetric Associates, SC in Arlington Heights, IL, Dr. Oh is Board Certified and has been practicing since 2002. Dr. Oh is particularly interested in menopause, infertility, adolescent gynecology, vaginal surgery, laparoscopic surgery, osteoporosis, contraceptive options and abnormal periods. Dr. Oh is married and has a family.
Dr. Esfandiari completed her Mercy residency in 2007 and returned to San Diego where she is now Clinical Director Of Women’s Health Services for North County Health Services. Her hobbies include reading, jazz dance, and swimming.
